Bibbles Burns Overnight
By STAFF
Grimsby fire crew battled a building fire early Friday morning in the shopping district just outside of London.

A fire alarm went off at Bibbles on Friday morning, 4 August, at roughly 2:20. The fire crew was able to portal in and be on the scene within a few minutes. At arrival, they began their assessment and called for additional resources.

With two fire crews on the scene, they were able to extinguish the fire with hydrokinesis and sandbags.

Inspectors will be assessing damage to Bibbles, but Captain Skyspark has confirmed that the fire was unable to spread significantly to neighbouring buildings.

Bibbles was opened in the Summer of 2021 by potioneer Caitríona Ó Ruairc, granddaughter of Eoin Ó Ruairc of Cráeb. Caitríona, who resides in the loft of the shop, was home at the time of the fire but was able to escape and was found by a neighbour who confirmed that she had not sustained major injury. The neighbour also noted that the shopkeeper's cat was with her.

Bibbles has had considerable success in a location often called a "dead-end" by Grimsby residents due to a history of occupants whose businesses shuttered within a year of operation. In addition to their high selling personal-use potions, the shop was also a local favourite for various baked goods made by the owner. They recently celebrated the end of a competition with Sillage, a perfumery, by donating proceeds to For Richer Or Poorer, a charity run by Lochlann Ó Ruairc.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
