AS: Oh -- are you ... recording this?

NS: I thought it may be helpful.

AS: Do you -- are you going to play this for them? Marc and Kate, I mean.

NS: Is there any reason you think they should remain unaware of our conversation today?

AS: No - I, yes? Maybe? I just. [pause] I think they made the wrong choice.

NS: Is there something in either Mr or Mrs Hindley's past or present you think would make them unfit or unable to raise a child?

AS: No, no, not that. I think they ought to have asked someone else to be their ... reference. Amy -- Amelia. She's good. She's a doctor, she was never in trouble, she's I dunno, she's what you want in your corner. I've known them for years, but I -- they probably could've, should've, chosen better.

NS: You believe that Mr and Mrs Hindley should be prevented from adopting a child because of their personal history with you?

AS: I've got a kid. Anybody can have a kid if I've got one. And this time last year, I'd say yes, but I don't think my behaviour and my friendship with them is a reflection on them in any way, other than their -- their willingness to put faith in surprising things? But--

NS: Have you ever witnessed Mr or Mrs Hindley participate in questionable recreational activities?

AS: No…

NS: And are either of them users of illicit substances?

AS: No…

NS: And both you and your wife, who would presumably have contact with the child are in recovery?

AS: Yes…

NS: Then it may be time to consider that not everything is about you, Mr Sutcliffe. [recording ends]
